Fireworks as the default image editor.

I upgraded from Fireworks MX 2004 to Fireworks CS3. The upgrade set my default image editor to Photoshop. I tried unsuccessfully to make Fireworks the default image editor. Windows did not throw an error nor would it associate the application. So I dug into the registry and found this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Applications\Fireworks.exe\shell

The following keys were still pointing to my old Fireworks install:

\Edit Firworks\command
\Open\command
\Preview\command

After changing them to point to my Firworks CS3 install I successfully changed my default image editor back to Fireworks.

Thank you so much! This was quicker than Adobe Tech Support, who still hasn't gotten back to me.

You don't happen to have a problem with Fireworks CS3 crashing when you open certain .jpgs, do you?

Yes I do have that problem. I don't know what is causing it.

HI Jason - I have found those entries in the regedit, but can you advise on the modification required? I would be most obliged...

The entries should be changed to point to the correct Fireworks EXE. I think C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks CS3\Fireworks.exe is the default install location.
